iOS 16 is a substantial upgrade. It doesn't change everything about your iPhone, but it's filled with fun new features that will make it fell fresh this fall:
Reimagined Lock Screen:
You can now have multiple lock screens with iOS 16. These lock screens can depend on your Focus Mode, which can be activated based on apps, locations or other triggers you set.
You can have different wallpapers depending on the lock screen you have. And with Depth Focus, you can have pictures you have on your wallpaper overlap with the Time Widget on the lock screen.
You can also add widgets to the lock screen, let you quickly glance at data like the weather, calendar events, date, time zones, alarms, battery level, Activity ring progress and more from your favourite apps.
Notifications and Live Activities:
View notifications on the Lock Screen will now appear from the bottom of the screen in an expanded list view, stacked view or hidden view. Can quickly see what's new, what's important and what's not in a simple swipe up.
Live Activities will help you follow an ongoing activity directly from your Lock Screen, so you can track the progress of your food delivery or use the Now Playing controls without unlocking your device.
Easily set up a Focus:
A new streamlined setup for Focus lets you select the apps and people you want to receive notifications from by either allowing them or silencing them. Connect your Lock Screen to your Focus so the look and feel of your iPhone match how you want to use it in the moment. With a swipe, you can go from your Personal Focus to your Work Focus with widgets showing upcoming meetings and to-do lists.
Live Text for video:
With iOS 15, you could tap on a photo and copy any text from within the photo. You can now do so with video. Just pause the video and copy the text you see in the frame.
Also, with Live Text you can quickly take actions, call a phone numbers, visit websites, convert currencies, translate languages and more in phontos, videos and camera.
Another cool features is you can easily lift the subject from an image or isolate the subject by removing the background and oaste the object on other apps. Available in Photos, Screenshot, Quick look, Safari and more
Health and Fitness:
Helps you manage and track the medication that you take. And to help you stay connected on what matters most, you can now send loved ones an invitation to share their information stored in the Health app.
Fitness App without Apple Watch:
You'll now be able to download and use the app with just your iPhones as the input device, as it can track steps and estimate calories burned without the need of a wearable.
Other features that seem pretty useful include Passkeys—which introduces a new sign-in method that is end-to-end encrypted and safe from phishing and data leaks. Control Apple watch with iPhone— Use switch control or any other assistive feature on iPhone to control Apple Watch. Safety Check— which helps people in domestic or intimate partner violence situations review and reset the access they’ve granted others.
iOS 16, however, won’t be available to every iPhone. It is only available to the iPhone 13 series, the iPhone 12 series, the iPhone 11 series, the iPhone X series, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone SE (2nd Gen or later).
